The Quest for Emergence website is owned by John-Michael Dumais (collectively hereafter, “I” “me,” or “myself”), and I use a number of third-party services listed below (together with myself, collectively referred to hereafter as “we”). I take user privacy seriously and make reasonable efforts to protect it. I have created this Privacy Policy (hereafter “Policy”) in order to share with you my information collection and use practices. As more clearly defined herein, I will never knowingly sell or assign your personal information without your knowledge and/or approval. Please read this Policy carefully before sharing any personally identifiable information described below.

By using, registering or placing an order on or through this website, you consent to the collection, use and transfer of your information under the terms of this policy. Since this is a growing web site and because Internet technologies are constantly evolving, this Policy is subject to change at any time and any changes will be posted on this page.

For the purposes of full disclosure, I currently make use of the following third-party tools for managing my business, buying and selling products, scheduling appointments, holding meetings and consultations, and email communications. These third parties are:

I will to the best of my knowledge and ability describe what you can expect in terms of privacy from my use of these third-party tools, and include links to their online privacy policies and terms and conditions policies where available (see below). However, I explicitly rescind any responsibility for the implementation of these policies by these third parties themselves, and for any future changes they may make to such policies as I have no control over, input to, nor any way of consenting to, such changes or implementations. To the best of my knowledge, none of these websites will knowingly sell or assign your personal information without your knowledge and/or approval.

For the purposes of collecting and organizing my email subscriber list, sending subscriber emails such as newsletters and product or service confirmations, selling products and services and issuing refunds, delivering products such as digital downloads, delivering online webinars and courses, and for membership/subscription services as may be provided to or purchased by you, the end-user, I make use of the third-party tools provided by Genesis Digital, which include, and Their complete privacy policy can be found at, and their terms and conditions can be found at When you engage with me to opt in to a newsletter, register for a webinar or course,  or purchase product or service, you are doing so directly through my account I hold with these end-services, and not through an account directly with these services.

I make use of PayPal as a payment gateway. Their privacy policy can be found here You do not have to be a registered user of PayPal in order to make payments with credit or debit cards for products and services you may purchase through me. If you choose to register with PayPal, you may expect to receive marketing and promotional emails from them.

I make use of Acuity Scheduling ( for online appointment scheduling. Their privacy policy is available at Their policy explicitly states that they will not “otherwise sell, rent, trade or exchange any personally-identifying information of our Users.” In this case,  “users” would be considered people who register with Acuity Scheduling in order to save their personal information and preferences. Please note that such registration is not necessary as a precondition of using Acuity Scheduling calendars when you are scheduling appointments with me. If you choose to register with Acuity Scheduling, you may expect to receive marketing and promotional emails from them.

I make use of Google’s Gmail platform for most of my individual business email communication. You can find Google’s privacy policy and terms and conditions at Please know that you are not required to be a Gmail user in order to communicate with me. You are, however, subject to the privacy policy and terms and conditions of your own personal email provider.

1. Information we are collecting

We collect personal information that can be used to identify you individually, such as your name, mailing address, phone number, email address, credit card number or other financial information as you may provide.

We collect non-personal information such as domain name and IP address. These reveal nothing personal about you other than the digital location from which you have accessed our website(s) or web tools. We also collect information about the type of Internet browser you are using, and your computer’s operating system.

We may collect information about which of our web pages you have accessed, and in some instances which links you have clicked on, and other browser-based behavior such as leaving pages, including the date and time. We may also collect and store information on whether you have opened emails and clicked on specific links.

We collect personal information from you when you provide it to us, for example, when you fill out an opt-in form, purchase a product or service, or schedule an appointment.

We may also collect information when you visit our webpages or interact with our email communications as described in Item 1 above.

Non-personal information as described in  Item 1 above may be disclosed to third parties in order to improve and manage web services.

Your personal information is used to facilitate direct responses to your purchases and requests, such as setting up appointments, responding to registration requests for webinars and online classes, fulfilling orders for products or services and responding to help or information requests. When you request free materials, you will be added to our email list (always with the option to unsubscribe). We also your use your personal information for our own internal purposes to provide, maintain, evaluate, and improve our services and website.

All sensitive personal information such as credit card numbers used on our registration and order forms, are encrypted using secure socket layer technology (SSL). We follow generally accepted industry standards to protect the personal information submitted to us, both during transmission and once we receive it.

However, please be advised that no method of transmission over the Internet, or method of electronic storage, is 100% secure. Therefore, while we strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect your personal information, we cannot guarantee its absolute security.

We use cookies to help identify you and to track your behavior on our websites. A cookie is a small piece of data that is sent to your Internet browser from a Web server and stored on your computer’s hard drive. Cookies are often used to provide you with a customized experience, for example, pre-filling fields on a registration or login form. We will not sell or otherwise provide the information we collect to outside third parties for the purpose of direct or indirect mass marketing.

Whereas I will do it everything in my power to disclose the privacy policies and terms and conditions of websites I use to manage and carry out my business, as listed above, I cannot control how these third parties may use personal information you may disclose directly to them. Please carefully review the privacy policy of any third-party website you visit before using it or disclosing your personal information to its provider.

We are obligated to protect your personal information by making reasonable security arrangements against such risks as unauthorized access, use, collection, disclosure or disposal. Security measures have been integrated into the design, implementation, and day-to-day operating practices as part of our commitment to protect the personal information it holds.

9. Online privacy advisory

Please keep in mind that whenever you voluntarily disclose personal information online, for example through email, commenting on blogs, participation and discussion boards, etc., that information can be collected and used by others. In short, if you post personal information online that is accessible to the public, you may receive unsolicited messages from other parties in return.

Ultimately, you are solely responsible for maintaining the secrecy of your personal information. Please be careful and responsible whenever you are online, an exercise due caution when sharing any personal information.
